Irrigation

Water, put exactly where it works

Zoned installations, honest repairs, and systems set up to beat February — because in the Cape, the irrigation is the garden's life support.

Why it matters here

In the Cape, irrigation is where gardens are won or lost

This is a winter-rainfall province with a long, windy, bone-dry summer at the end of it. Every February, gardens across the Helderberg quietly die of one of two things: no water, or careless water — sprays running at midday into a southeaster, drippers blocked since October, a timer still on its installer's defaults from three years ago. The garden's survival lives in the system, and the system is only as good as its design and its last check-up.

New systems

Designed and installed properly, once

Zoned like the garden actually works

Lawn, beds, pots and veggies don't drink the same — so they don't share a zone. Hydrozoning groups plants by thirst, which is how a garden gets greener while the water bill gets smaller.

Drippers where they win, sprays where they belong

Drip lines for beds and hedges — water at the roots, none to the wind, restriction-friendly. Sprays for lawn, aligned so they water grass instead of paving. Wind is the thief on this coast; drip is the lock.

Timers set for restrictions, not against them

Programmed to the current municipal rules — days, hours, durations — with early-morning runs when wind and evaporation are lowest. When restrictions change, the settings change.

Buried during groundwork on builds

On a full build the pipework goes in before the garden does — never trenched through finished planting. Retrofits are done cleanly, beds lifted and restored so you can't see where we've been.

Repairs & rescue

Signs your system is wasting your money

The soggy patch

A permanently wet corner or a mushy lawn stripe means a leak or a broken head — paying for water that's drowning one plant while the rest go dry.

Brown corners

Dead zones in an otherwise fine lawn are misaligned or blocked heads, or pressure dropping across the zone. Fixable in a visit — replanting the corner every season isn't the answer.

The bill spike

A water bill that jumped without a lifestyle change is usually an underground leak on the irrigation line. We pressure-check, find it, fix it.

The mystery timer

If nobody in the house knows what the timer is actually doing, it's doing the wrong thing. We audit the schedule, rezone what's drifted, and leave it labelled in plain language.

Repairs are quoted like everything else — in writing, fixed, after a look. On a care plan, the system gets checked every visit as standard, which is how most problems get caught at the ten-rand stage instead of the ten-thousand-rand stage.
